Szentendre
Szentendre (Saint Andrew's in English) is called the home of the artists. This town of 28.000 inhabitants has more that 150 galleries, workshops, studios, and museums. Being a very multicultural place, Szentendre experienced a population growth during the occupation of the Balkans by the Ottoman. The neighboring Hungarian Kingdom let in numerous Greek, Serbian and Croatian families (among others) who were looking for a refuge during the Ottoman expansion. Having one of the most welcoming communities, Szentendre got enriched by the culture, religion, art and architecture of these families. The cobblestone streets, charming cafés, colorful houses and countless church towers enchant visitors easily.
We include a visit to Hungary's most talented and productive ceramic artist's exhibition, the Margit Kovács Museum or to the fairytale-like Szamos Marzipan Figures Museum.
