Buda side tour: Conquer the Castle
Let's start from the very beginning a walk back in time! Hidden secrets, and gossip from the Middle Ages and the past centuries await to be revealed, as we walk the cobblestone streets, passing by palaces, churches, colorful houses, and cozy courtyards. A real "behind the scenes" walk including stories about our kings and queens, Dracula, and even Houdini.
Itinerary: We'll walk across the Elisabeth Bridge to marvel at the waterfall of Gellért Hill. Along the Danube runs the Castle Garden Bazaar, a beautiful panorama wall which was created in the mid-1800s to frame and highlight the Buda Castle District. By the square of most emblematic bridge of Hungary, the Chain Bridge we can decide how to reach the castle hilltop: via the Castle Garden Bazaar, or hiking up a woody trail surrounded by lush greenery or by the historical Castle Funicular.
We'll stroll around the Baroque Royal Palace and stop by the Matthias Fountain, where we get the chance to learn more about Hungary's most powerful king from the 1400s. Walking by governmental buildings, such as the Sándor Palace (office to the Hungarian President) we'll enter the civil town area with colorful facades and cobble stoned streets. On Holy Trinity Square we'll see the mesmerizing building of the former Ministry of Finance, and the truly amazing Matthias Church. Behind the church you'll have your "wow" moment while enjoying the view of the Pest side from the Fisherman’s Bastion. At the Mary Magdalene Church you'll learn more about our controversial relationship with the Habsburgs, and see the imposing building of the National Archives. At the end of our tour we'll take a walk on the charming Castle Promenade.
